Background Research
Society has difficulty in achieving full accessibility. There are many obstacles for wheelchair users that we can hardly imagine.
The eye level of wheelchair users is significantly lower than that of the average standing person.
Over 1.5 million manual tips and falls on the ramp every year, and it is the biggest problem they face in wheelchair accidents.
Questionnaire Data
A total of 73 questionnaires are collected. (All participants are wheelchair users)
Interview Insights
“When I cross an intersection, especially during rush hour, there are many people crowding that my view is blocked. ”
“To be honest, sometimes I'm too lazy to use my phone because it's really troublesome to control the wheels”
“ Sometimes I get halfway up the ramp before I can see that the slope is so steep that I can hardly control it!”
“I wish my vehicle had a reverse mirror like a car, so I don't run into people.”
User Persona
According to the previous analysis, the idea concept is clear. Wheelchair users can avoid danger, completely free to enjoy life is my design purpose. The navigation requires 4 key points:
Technical Support
ADAS 's core sensor is the camera. It can collect wide-angle images(road, pedestrians, vehicles, and other obstacles). Images captured by the cameras are analyzed by supporting software and the safety information then triggers a response.
A technique that measures surface slopes by analyzing the specular reflection image of a target. It has two advantages, high sensitivity and direct measurement of surface slopes. It is suitable for all types of ramp angle identification.
